Resolution
The M580 PLC supports both Implicit and Explicit communications. Implicit communications is setup through the DTM Browser. The DTM Browser allows the creation of Distributed IO connections and requests through the use of EDS or DTM files for the remote node communication setup. Implicit exchanges are performed automatically on each cycle of the task.
Explicit exchanges are performed on application request. They use specific function blocks. An acknowledgment or reply is sent once the requested action is performed. This reply may be received a few cycles after the request was sent.
